For more than a century, the College of Human Ecology at The Ohio State University has reached out to find solutions to the complex problems facing youth, families, communities, and consumers in a changing world. With the trust and support of the College's many supporters, our 100 plus years of cultivation has yielded one of the finest academic units specializing in human ecology in the nation.
Out of 177 institutions with human ecology/home economics programs in the U.S., The Gourman Report rates the College of Human Ecology at Ohio State as number one in the nation.
Once we were called Home Economics, with a focus on helping families meet their needs within the home. Today, in keeping with the changes in society and the field, we focus on improving the lives of individuals, families, and communities from the consumer’s point of view.
