College of the Mainland was a beckoning vision in the minds of community leaders as far back as the early 1960s. The first concrete step was taken in October, 1966, when the College of the Mainland Junior College District was formed.
College of the Mainland, a comprehensive community college, is an accessible, affordable learner-centered institution dedicated to student success serving the mainland area of Galveston County and beyond.
College of the Mainland is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097; 404-679-4501) to award associate degrees and certificates.
