Hawaii Business College Established in 1973 by the late Mitsuru Omori, Hawaii Business College takes a unique, holistic approach to successful training! We work with our students to increase their marketability by stressing reliability, knowledge and good people skills. We serve our students by providing quality education and preparing them for a wide variety of business careers in the shortest possible time at a reasonable cost.

The predecessor of the College was the Stenographic Institute of Hawaii, which was founded in 1949 and directed by Mitsuru Omori. Mr. Omori was the first person to introduce the stenograph/stenotype shorthand machine to Hawaii. Continuing his ideal and mission, Mr. Omori founded the College of Commerce in 1964 and Hawaii Business College in 1973.

Business education was Mr. Omori's life work following his discharge from the armed forces in 1945. During World War II, Mr. Omori served as a combat soldier in Europe with the 100th Battalion. After the war, Mr. Omori studied at Case Western University in Cleveland, Ohio under the G.I. Bill of Rights. Since he experienced firsthand the benefit of higher education which would not have been possible but for the G.I. Bill of Rights, creating opportunities for others to pursue higher education became the primary focus of Mr. Omori's life-long career in education.
