Mission Statement
Our purpose is to make a distinctive contribution, in the Catholic tradition to higher education in Northern Ireland.
St. Mary’s is an academic community committed to the search for meaning and value in the intellectual life, to academic excellence and to individual attention for students.
We work for the development of the whole person in a Christian, values-sensitive environment in preparation for a lifetime of learning, leadership and service.
We want the college to be a religious, educational, cultural and social resource for the local community and to show concern for the poor and powerless.
We provide courses for the education of teachers (in English and in Irish) and courses in liberal arts. We offer students on these courses high-quality learning, teaching and support.
We aim to reduce traditional impediments to the accessibility of higher education, enabling participation across the entire spectrum of society.
We emphasize economic regeneration and social development as important ways of facilitating conflict resolution and peace in Ireland.
In order to promote our mission, we work with a wide range of partners, including local communities.
We are committed to a rich international dimension.
