Outside Scholarships

 Outside Scholarships are those scholarships that are not awarded by the governments. They are ruled by policies to follow in case you win a merit scholarship, and what will happen with your need-based financial aid package. Consider as a resources because they reduce your financial aid package.

 If you receive an outside scholarship, you must report it to the office in charge, otherwise you would have to repay for part or all of the scholarship. Generally, universities do not reduce grants before loans, in other case you still can receive an outside scholarship; but if you receive more than one, you the university will reduce your loans.

 Furthermore, many schools have some benefits for those students that receive many scholarships; as same as some schools have outside scholarships that incentive to win outside scholarships.
